What: A cross between The Voice and the Nobel Prize in Literature. JK. Contestants pitch yet-to-be unpublished books and compete for fabulous prizes on Chatter on Books, the best book podcast out there.
Who: Any and all aspiring authors EXCEPT those who have been published.
When: First Monday of each month during the Chatter on Books taping (approx 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.)
Where: Chatter (5247 Wisconsin Avenue, NW Washington, DC)
How: Prepare your “elevator pitch”, two minutes or less, in which you sell yourself and your book proposal to the judges (e.g. David, Michael, Jeanne and Torie).
You should include:
- Your target audience
- Any comparable books out there
- Plot outline
- Reasons we’d want to read your book
Three contestants will compete per show; show winners receive a $50 Chatter gift card and chance to return for the finals later in the season with a $1,000 grand prize.
Family, friends, teachers and random strays are WELCOME to join you and cheer you on at Chatter.
